The Federal Club Introduces An Alliance With Spring Creek

Welcome to The Federal Club

VSGA MEMBER CLUBS THE FEDERAL CLUB AND SPRING CREEK GOLF CLUB SET TO COMBINE MEMBERSHIPS

MIDLOTHIAN –– Virginia State Golf Association member clubs The Federal Club in Glen Allen and Spring Creek Golf Club in Gordonsville have agreed to combine their membership, allowing members reciprocal arrangements at both clubs.

Spring Creek is a daily-fee course, while The Federal Club has changed its status from private to semiprivate. Though the central Virginia club will continue to have members, it is now open for public play. Members of both clubs approved the change and the joining of membership will occur immediately.

Both layouts opened over the past four years and quickly gained acclaim as two of the most popular courses in the commonwealth. Spring Creek hosted the 2009 VSGA Mid-Amateur Championship, while The Federal Club welcomed the VSGA Club Championship last year.

“We wanted to join memberships with a club that represents a good fit and we know we’ve found that in Spring Creek Golf Club,” said Trevor Hedgepeth, general manager and superintendent at The Federal Club. “We’re very excited about this new venture and the desire to continue to offer members a first-class golf experience.”

“We found a natural partner in The Federal Club,” said Jack Snyder, general manager at Spring Creek Golf Club. “This new opportunity allows as add on to the outstanding amenities we offer, while adding value and creating new opportunities for the future. Each club has a lot to offer and this change affords members at the clubs top-tier amenities.”

An Arnold Palmer Signature Course, The Federal Club, comprised of a Washington and Jefferson nine, opened in 2007. Palmer crafted an outward nine featuring lush wetlands, grassy meadows and majestic stands of mature hardwoods. The inward half counters with a bold opening group along the SouthAnnaRiver bluffs, followed by a strong finishing trio of holes. With Declaration bentgrass installed on tees and fairways, A1-A4 bentgrass for the greens, indigenous bluegrass-fescues in the native areas, The Federal Club features pristine conditions.

Nestled in the rolling, lush landscape near Charlottesville, Va., the all-bentgrass Spring Creek Golf Club was designed by Ed Carton, a former Tom Fazio design associate, and opened in 2006. Spring Creek’s picturesque layout features stone walls, scenic wooden bridges, creekside holes and exciting doglegs. The VSGA Mid-Amateur Championship is making its first visit to the layout in the championship’s 33-year-history. Spring Creek was hailed as the Best New Public Course Under $75 in Golf Digest’s listing of America’s Best New Courses for 2007.

Most recently, the course was ranked No. 12 in Golf World’s Readers’ Choice Awards among readers’ most preferred public courses and garnered second place in the
U.S. for best conditioning in the rankings.
